Wes Wingate began performing in Mid-Missouri in the mid-90s. Eventually landing in the Columbia, Mo. band, The Doxies, in 2002. The Doxies and Wingate would produce four albums together and play over 400 shows across the Midwest and South between 2003 and 2006. After producing a double-album tribute to Bob Dylan (2006) which featured 36 Missouri artists, Wingate formed Stingrays. The indie-rock band featured a couple different lineups and released two albums (2007 and 2014). Wingate also had a long stint with Mid-Missouri jam-grass favorites, The Hipnecks, (2008 to 2013) appearing on their 2012 release. He also had a slightly shorter, yet extensive, touring venture with St. Louis-based rocker John Henry and The Engine, (2007 to 2011) appearing on the "Under the Yellow Moon" album and the "I Don't Wanna Know" EP. Wingate and Aaron Harms joined up in Columbia (2012) to form Country group Late Night Benedictions, who released two albums in 2013 and 2019. Wingate has performed with St. Louis stalwart Sean Canan and his Voodoo Players periodically since 2018, as well as dozens of other Missouri acts (i.e. Chump Change Blues Band, Don't Mind Dying). In November 2021, Wingate released his solo debut album, “Late Bloomer.” He performs solo as well as “Wes Wingate and The Late Bloomers”. Wingate has released a string of singles from 2022-2024. He released his second solo full-length album in April 2025. It is titled "Alternative Country Chord Progressions."
